The Lead for Minnesota fellowship opportunities will now include Wadena as program and city leaders look to further support artisan based economic development.
Fellows with Lead for Minnesota are soon coming to the area. With a goal of bringing young people to rural communities to stay, the fellows focus on a series of projects in their host city or county.
Poway Unified to bid farewell to 38 retiring elementary teachers

When the school year concludes in a few weeks, Poway Unified School District will be saying farewell to 38 of its elementary teachers who are retiring.
Those who taught in the district for 30 or more years were invited to reflect on their careers. Seven chose to participate.
Teachers at the middle and high school levels will be featured in future weeks.

Lindi H. Clark is retiring after teaching in PUSD for 36 years, most recently third grade at Highland Ranch Elementary, where she has worked since 2009. She previously taught at Sunset Hills, Adobe Bluffs and Park Village elementaries.

Friday, June 4 will be a momentous day in downtown London with the Covid-delayed ribbon cutting for Town Center Park, followed by the kickoff of the inaugural Town Center Concert Series. This hometown celebration will feature free live music from local bands My Finest Hour and Sneaky Pete and headlined by country music performer Julie Roberts. Roberts made her debut in 2004 with the single “Break Down Here” which was a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The live music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food trucks will be at Town Center dishing out a wide variety of fresh cuisine to enhance a wonderful evening of live performances in London’s beautiful new downtown park. Guests will be required to adhere to Covid-19 CDC Guidelines. The Town Center Concert Series will feature live music shows on July 2, August 6, and September 3.
Cedarville duck parade thwarted

The staff at Cedarville Elementary School thought the mama duck living in the school s courtyard with her ducklings knew the drill.
After all, the spring duck parade – an event designed to help usher the waterfowl through the school to the wild – is a Cedarville tradition.
Like in past years, students on Wednesday afternoon lined a path for the birds to follow, but the mother duck apparently wasn t ready for a showy sendoff.
She flew to the roof almost immediately after about six employees – including Principal Brad Bakle and second grade teachers Julie Roberts and Jennifer Elrod – began trying to coax the ducklings from the only home they ve known.
