Five people spoke during public comment, including Emerson Elementary employee Julie Bennett. She believes the decision is being rushed during a “stressful” COVID-19 pandemic. Bennett said Emerson Elementary is full and doesn’t have an empty room.
“Our students and staff deserve better,” Bennett said. “I ask you to please slow down, take the time necessary to gather the facts and gather staff and community input before this very important decision is made. This is a critical time and it takes everyone to come together to make a difference.”
Katie Bennett said there’s a scarcity of daycare in Ionia County and called it “irresponsible” to tell parents where to send their children for school but not provide transportation to daycare.

Despite still being mired in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the show will go on.
Organizers have been hard at work in an effort to ensure the second annual Children’s Safety Village Kids Got Talent show still runs, only this time, spectators will be viewing from the comfort of their own home.
To those organising the anti-lockdown gathering in Cork this weekend let me say this: I know how you feel.
We are all fed up with the lockdown and feel like going out into the street and screaming.
But the purpose of the lockdown is to limit the spread of the virus and the more successfully this is done, the sooner the lockdown can be gradually ended.
Now, if a large number of people come together, it will be impossible to maintain social distancing and if some of those present, without realising it, have the virus, they will inevitably spread it to others.
