CHARITY store bosses had to stop accepting donations after being overwhelmed with support from the public. AGE UK s new store, at the site of a former kitchen and bathroom showroom on the corner of Walney Road and Wilkie Road, Barrow, officially opened yesterday. Staff welcomed customers back to the new store, which is set over two floors, with a separate furniture showroom. Operations manager Vicki Martin said: “We’re so excited to be finally opening today. The store looks great and we’ve got a range of fantastic items for shoppers. “We’ve been overwhelmed with the response from the public. The kindness of our customers is something else. We even had to stop taking donations at one point because we had so many donations to process.

SAN ANTONIO The coronavirus pandemic cause an already low blood supply level, to shrink even lower.
“Right now we’re at a one day supply of blood overall. With the type O inventory, it’s under a one day supply,” Adrienne Mendoza with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center said.

ACROSS the bay as two high sheriffs walk for charity TWO sheriffs will be stepping out across the bay this summer Both the new High Sheriff of Cumbria, David Beeby, and his predecessor, Julie Barton, will be taking part in a fund-raising walk across the bay. The event, which had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic, will take place on July 31 at 10.45am. Former Sheriff, Julie Barton, from Ulverston, was pleased to see the event finally going ahead. She said “I’m running it, but I have invited the new sheriff who will also be attending. I am doing this with the support of the new sheriff. It is still going to be for the benefit of charitable organisations through the Cumbria Community Foundation.
