20 years of spirited conversations continues to attract high profile speakers

Katy Jones12:04, Jul 16 2021 Maarten Holl/Stuff Investigative journalist Nicky Hager is the next speaker due to take the microphone at long-running Nelson public discussion forum, “Spirited Conversations”. They aren’t offered a speaker’s fee, but that hasn’t stopped prominent people including Jacinda Ardern and Sir Geoffrey Palmer from coming to talk at an unassuming cafe in central Nelson. Renowned investigative journalist, Nicky Hager, was next in line to speak at the public discussion forum “Spirited Conversations”, which has been running out of Yaza Cafe for 20 years. The forum s co-ordinator Karen du Fresne said most of the people she had approached to speak at the forum since she took up the role five years ago, had accepted.
