2021 Big Draft: BBBS, NFL Team Up to Recruit Next Generation of Bigs Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) is proud to announce the kickoff of the 2021 Big Draft. Big Brothers Big Sisters is teaming up with the National Football League’s (NFL) Inspire Change initiative to recruit mentors for youth across America. While the NFL will be drafting players in just a few short weeks, the search for potential Bigs is just getting started. Currently, there are 65 local children waiting for a volunteer, called a “Big.” “Our ability to team up with the NFL and their Inspire Change initiative allows us to, not only spread our message and a wider audience of possible mentors,” said Donna Bennett, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties. “With The Big Draft, aligning with National Volunteer Month, we are hoping those in our community see the benefits of mentorship/volunteering and decide to take action in our community.”

Paul Ackroyd, 37, a much-loved son and father, was attacked at a flat in Jinnah Court, Manningham, Bradford, in the early hours of February 23, 2019. Alex Bates, 19, of Eastfield Gardens, Holme Wood, Bradford, was detained at Her Majesty’s pleasure for a minimum term of 14 years and 358 days. Rashpal Singh Gill, 40, of Leeds Road, Bradford, was jailed for a minimum term of 11 years and 358 days.

Keighley man jailed after high-speed chase

Bradford Crown Court A KEIGHLEY man who took a friend’s car and drove at up to 120mph on a Bradford motorway during a police chase has been jailed. Andrew Duffy, 38, went out for drinks with a friend and then took his car, a silver Ford Mondeo. Duffy then joined the eastbound M62 from junction 28 (Tingley Interchange) and drove at speeds of between 100mph and 120mph. He was spotted on the motorway by police officers, who used their car’s lights and sirens to indicate for him to stop, which Duffy ignored. He was undertaking other motorway drivers who were forced to change lanes to avoid the speeding Duffy.
