Lenz Ong: Just a week after I praised him for keeping it tidy at the back, some real nervy moments at the back with his distribution today. Some questionable decisions that pinned his defenders back and generated some sketchy turnovers. Also tended to overhit his short passes. Could consider himself a bit lucky to come away with a second consecutive clean sheet, but hopefully it’s just an off day.
Juan Mesa: Issues in distribution but what a ball to Yearwood for the second goal.
ANDREW GUTMAN - 6.7
Brit Byrd: Not a center of attention like the first three matches but still solid.

J.J. Post: Was at fault for the first goal but earned some points back for his maybe-intentional, maybe-not assist on the Red Bulls’ second.
Ben Cork: Not the worst performer in the backline but as always never seems to be able to channel his large frame and elegant movement into dominance.

These days you can’t go anywhere without people talking about the New York Red Bulls. Just yesterday I was in the frozen foods section, perusing the latest crop of les pommes de terre frites, when I heard a woman discussing the club’s latest transfer rumors. I was stunned, floored, nearly dropping the bag of Ore-Ida Golden Crinkles that had taken three minutes of painstaking deliberation to select. Before I could turn to join in her conversation, she was gone, but the message is clear: like my cholesterol, American soccer is on the rise.
