Tech company launches giveback program - Grand Rapids Business Journal

Grand Rapids Business Journal A local tech firm is working to bridge the “digital divide” for students in underserved communities. Tech Defenders, a Grand Rapids-based tech company, officially launched its newly developed giveback initiative, aimed at providing technology resources to local schools and organizations in its service areas. Shortly after opening its expanded headquarters early in 2019, the company donated 200 laptops and iPads to San Juan Diego Academy, an elementary school in Wyoming whose students are predominantly Hispanic. According to the school’s administrators, the majority of their students live in neighborhoods with high dropout rates, and where few go to college.

International Mass returns to St. John the Baptist Parish Friday, May. 14, 2021 Intermountain Catholic DRAPER – St. John the Baptist Parish’s annual International Mass, which traditionally was held in January, was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While considering the matter, the parish staff decided the International Mass was being celebrated too close to Christmas, said Jennifer Kane, the parish’s office manager. “January tends to be a rushed and hectic time after Christmas and the office staff was searching for a new date for the Mass,” she explained. While discussing it, her daughter, then a senior at Juan Diego Catholic High School, suggested the Mass be celebrated the weekend of Pentecost.
