An immigrant illegally present in the country threatened a U.S. Border Patrol agent before punching the agent and attempting to elude capture, according to an arrest affidavit.
Juan Carlos Almanza-Silva was arrested and charged with assaulting and intimidating a federal agent.
Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Jose G. Esquinca responded to suspicious activity in the gravel pit area near South Wilhelm Avenue and Ventura Street. Esquinca encountered several people hiding in the high grass area near the gravel pit area by the El Tonto neighborhood.
