The Asian Football Federation (AFC) has hailed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for successfully organising the 20201 AFC Champions League Group E games which took place amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goa successfully hosted 12 matches at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao from April 14 to April 29, with it playing host to the Group E games, which involved Persepolis (Iran), Al Wahda (UAE) and Al Rayyan (Qatar) and FC Goa - who were making their AFC Champions League debut.
While FC Goa gave a good account in the premier continental football tournament held in Goa, drawing three games against Qatar s Al Rayyan and UAE s Al Wahda, the inexperience was apparent as they also lost three matches two against Iran s FC Persepolis and one against Al Wahda to finish with just three points from six outings.
