DDC approves 115 uplift schemes National February 22, 2021 FAISALABAD: The District Development Committee has approved the implementation on 115 development schemes for regional development and public welfare at a cost of Rs 270.3 million. The District Development Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali in which Deputy Director Development Tahir Mehmood briefed about the technical and administrative aspects of various development schemes. Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Afifa Shajia, Officers of Local Government, Wasa, FDA and other departments were also present. The meeting was informed that the under the SDGs development package schemes of roads, Wasa, FDA, Local Government and Fesco would be completed. Reviewing the schemes approved during the meeting, the DC said that expeditious departmental measures should be taken so that these schemes could be completed earlier. He said that the problem should be solved immediately

‘25,000 trees to be planted in UAF’ National February 18, 2021 FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Tanveer Wednesday said the varsity will plant 25,000 trees this year to make campus more greenish. Addressing a function organized in connection with the tree planting campaign at Ayesha Hall under the auspices of the Chief Hall Warden s Office, the VC said the varsity had prepared a comprehensive plan for landscaping and beautification which will be implemented to make it one of the greenest universities across the globe. He lauded the measures being taken under the PM Clean and Green Pakistan scheme to address the climate changes and environmental issues. He said a massive plantation drive would be carried out this year at the main and sub-campuses. The VC said climate changes were causing hazardous effects on the lives of the people. Robber killed, another injured in police encounter National February 15, 2021 FAISALABAD: A robber was killed while another sustained injuries during a police encounter in the area of Satiana police. Dolphin personnel were on their routine patrolling when they spotted two suspected persons on a motorcycle near Saleemi Chowk. The police signaled them to stop, but they opened fire and attempted to flee the scene. The police returned the fire. As a result, both outlaws received bullet injuries and fell on the ground. The police were shifting them to a hospital when one of them succumbed to wounds. The police recovered weapons from them.
