Eugene 4J Anticipates Fulltime In-person School Come Fall

Eugene 4J plans to welcome back full-time in person schooling in the fall of 2021. Credit Brian Bull / KLCC News 4J spokesperson Kerry Delf said most of their students are now doing hybrid learning in person for two days a week, and learning from home the rest of the time. “We are expecting and planning for a return to school with 5 days a week onsite in the fall,” Delf said. “Although, we’re still awaiting guidance and information and of course the development of the public health situation.” Delf said about 30% of the district’s families are continuing with online  only learning at home for the rest of this school year. She said the district has offered COVID-19 vaccine clinics to teachers and staff and is now scheduling clinics for teens.

Election preview: 7 candidates vie for 3 seats on Eugene 4J School Board

All three of Eugene School Board s seats up for election this year are contested, with seven candidates appearing on the ballot.  Most of the candidates are newcomers, with the exception of sole incumbent Judy Newman. Whoever wins each of the seats will hold it for a full four-year term. The Register-Guard sent all the candidates a questionnaire that asked about relevant experience, reasons for running and plans to make schools more inclusive. Here s a bit more about each of the candidates, based on their responses.  Since filing, Dakota James Boulette, 22, decided to stop campaigning and instead is supporting Maya Rabasa for the seat. However, Boulette s name still will appear on the ballot. Candidate Bryan Costa did not return multiple calls for comment.
