There were embarrassing and chaotic scenes at the start of the men s triathlon in Tokyo, before Kristian Blummenfelt of Norway won a thrilling race to the finish, and vomited after crossing the line.
When the starting gun went off, half of the field of triathletes were blocked from diving in the water by a TV boat which got in the way.

It was incredibly fortunate that no-one was injured by the twin outboard motors on the vessel as it hastily maneuvered away.
In the confusion of the moment support boats and jet skis flew off as some were left stranded on the pontoon, despite the false start alert horn sounding to halt the opening 1,500 metre swim leg.
