Attack at Dawn: North Africa is an operational level wargame set in WW2 North African theatre. It features 3 campaigns, and 15 scenarios which can be played in solo or multiplayer modes. It begins with the German troops probing into the Libyan region of Cyrenaica, and finishes either with the total defeat of German-Italian Panzer Armee, or with the British loss of Egypt and their retreat across the Suez Canal.

OPINION:
Anzac Day this year marked 106 years to the day that New Zealand invaded Turkey side by side with several other nations including Britain, France and Australia. Turkey s military did what all militaries do, and defended its homeland from the invaders from across the seas.
The Gallipoli campaign was an effort to take Turkey out of World War I, with the target of reaching Constantinople (Istanbul).
The Allies did not take into account the ferocity and ability of the Turkish forces. By the end of the six-month campaign the Allies were still stuck on the beaches where they had landed, with little ground gained, and it was decided that retreat was in order.
A couple of elections ago I helped to campaign for the purchase of a former hotel in Le Quesnoy. In November, 1918, the town was liberated by New Zealand soldiers with such precision that not a single civilian was killed or wounded. However, 2000 Germans were defending Le Quesnoy and they inflicted in casualties on the New Zealand Division. The people of Le Quesnoy were so thankful for the way in which they were liberated that they named many streets after New Zealand place names, for example if you visit the town you can walk down Rue de la Nouvelle Zelande or Rue Aotearoa.
