Vincenzo wasn’t filmed in Italy
The opening of the Korean drama sees titular character Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-Ki) in Italy, carrying out his role as a consigliere for the Italian mafia. The breath-taking landscape views and architecture that cites iconic Italian locations captured the viewers’ attention. Thus, it came as a surprise when the production team revealed that none of the cast or crew stepped foot in Italy to film the shots.
tvN’s “Vincenzo” ended with a bang!
On May 2, the final episode of the popular drama starring Song Joong Ki and Jeon Yeo Bin achieved the highest viewership ratings of the show’s entire run. According to Nielsen Korea, the series finale of “Vincenzo” scored an average nationwide rating of 14.6 percent and a peak of 16.2 percent, taking first place in its time slot across all channels including public broadcast networks.
Not only did the ratings mark a new personal record for the series, but they also made “Vincenzo” the drama with the sixth-highest ratings in tvN history, bested only by “Crash Landing on You,” “Goblin,” “Reply 1988,” “Mr. Sunshine,” and “Mr. Queen.”
On May 3, following the successful finale of tvN’s “Vincenzo,” lead actor Song Joong Ki took part in an interview to share his thoughts and experiences while filming the drama.
He began, “First of all, it was the first time I felt such little pressure about my role. It’s not that I didn’t feel any burden, but because I filmed many episodes with the Geumga Plaza people, I felt a bond with the actors who played the Geumga Plaza tenants and didn’t feel lonely or pressured. In short, I could say, ‘We all had fun together. ”
