Abilene police investigate report of not-so dead body Police were dispatched as part of a check welfare emergency. The man was found on the road, with his head at the curb of the intersection.  As police approached, the man awoke and almost rolled into oncoming traffic, according to reports. While speaking to the man, police allegedly could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. He was arrested for public intoxication and taken to Taylor County Jail without incident. Other incidents recently worked by police include: ► Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, 1900 block of Sayles Boulevard, Thursday The victim told police that the suspect took a small hatchet and exhibited it in an aggressive manner to make the victim fear for their life. The man was placed under arrest and taken to jail.

Abilene police: Woman causing disturbance in alley arrested

A woman with multiple convictions for public intoxication was arrested for the offense again Monday after reports of her being naked on a central street, Abilene police said. Officers contacted the woman in the alley of the 400 block of Jeanette Street at about 1:10 p.m. after a witness reported that the woman was throwing a bunch of metal out of a trailer or building behind a residence, according to a police report.  Another witness had notified police that the woman had been naked while in the 500 block of Jeanette Street, the report said. The woman is a known meth user, the report said, and has six previous convictions for public intoxication since September 2019.

Parking restrictions to take effect in several areas of Albany

Created: May 03, 2021 04:31 AM There is a lot of work happening around Albany this week, and because of that, there are several parking restrictions going into effect. This includes several sections of downtown. There are no parking signs posted, and police will be ticketing or towing drivers who ignore the rules. The following restrictions will be in effect: Beginning on Sunday, May 2nd at 7:00 a.m. until Wednesday, June 2nd at 5:00 p.m., parking will be restricted on the south side of Dana Avenue near 62 Dana Avenue for service vehicles.  Beginning on Monday, May 3rd at 7:00 a.m. until Tuesday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m., parking will be restricted on the west side of Jeanette Street from #20 Jeanette Street to Second Avenue for gas installation.
