The venture comes as a joint initiative of USC and SeaLink Fraser Island, in partnership with the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation.
It will be supported by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
USC Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) Professor Joanne Scott said entry to the centre, which will officially open on 1 March, would be free to all visitors to the island.
âKâgari is recognised as one of the worldâs most outstanding natural wonders and the recent devastating fires have highlighted just how important, and fragile, this incredible island is,â Pro Scott said.
The deputy house speaker s comments came amid reports he was among at least five government MPs moving to back a plan to make it easier for the government to invest cash into coal-fired power stations. The move, developed by Senator Matt Canavan and moved by Barnaby Joyce would have hijacked a bill on the Clean Energy Finance Corporation - intended to create a $1 billion grid reliability fund - to also allow the investment body to fund high-energy low-emissions coal-fired power stations.
