Alexander Vindman, the Trump impeachment witness who became the target of a smear campaign by Fox News and other right-wing media, made a powerful argument for defamation lawsuits as a way to de-radicalize the right-wing media.
In an editorial for Lawfare, Vindman noted that while the January 6 insurrectionists are being held accountable via the criminal justice system and Congress attempted to hold Donald Trump accountable for his Big Lie that incited the rioters, there seems to be no process for holding right-wing media responsible for its radicalizing “disinformation and half-truths.” It s a vicious cycle, Vindman says:

He questioned my loyalty. He tweeted threats. He suggested to his loyalists that action should be taken against me a career federal government employee. Trump proxies amplified these themes on television news, internet news, and social media, resulting in risks to my life and my reputation as a public servant.

On Friday, night, May 23, Billy Williams hit his 232nd, a 2-run shot at San Diego that gave the Cubs a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. They went on to win, 6-0, as Dick Selma pitched a 2-hit shutout.
The next afternoon, Ron Santo tied Williams with a 2-run shot of his own that put the Cubs ahead, 2-1. Banks blasted a grand slam in the fifth to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 lead and the Cubs won the game, 7-5.

On Sept. 11-14, 1944, the Cubs and Reds played a 5-game series in Chicago.
The Reds won the first day, 6-5 in 10 innings. After a rainout, Cincinnati won the opener of a doubleheader, 4-1. Those 2 losses made the Cubs 1-7-1 for the season when hosting the Reds.
They won Game 2, 3-2, only to lose the first game the following day, 3-2, in 13 innings.

Thirty times, he had 4 in a game, including 8 in which he went 4 for 4.
Twice, both in 1969, all 4 of his hits were for extra bases.
On Wednesday, April 9, in the second game of the season, Williams smacked 2 doubles, walked, then smacked 2 more doubles, as the Cubs thumped the visiting Phillies, 11-3.
It was a different story when he did it again, on Friday, Sept. 5, in the opener of a weekend series against the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
