How much should teachers in Brevard County earn?
With falling budgets and just so much money to go around, how much can we pay them? I haven t a clue. I do know this: Florida ranks 49th in the nation for average teacher pay. A teacher must work outside the classroom to do a proper job in the classroom. Authorities within the school system know this and allow it. The law then requires teachers to be paid for this outside the classroom work.

Defund the police.then arm ourselves
I agree that we should defund the police. We don’t need police officers enforcing our laws randomly among the populace which some say is inherently racist. I am okay with that, as long as we relax the laws for open or concealed carry of a firearm. Let’s make sure that every person has the right to arm themselves with lethal force so they can protect their property, family and livelihood. Seems like a fair trade off to me.
City departments discuss projects and budgets
$19 million budget will be presented to council Monday
The entire $19.2 million budget will come before council on Monday.
The city s community development department hopes to initiate several new programs this year, including neighborhood improvement grants, downtown historic district repair grants and community events and programming grants.
Community Development Director Matt Schley said much of the City Redevelopment Fund would go to major projects, including the creation of Confluence Park along the Licking River near the Y Bridge. The fund will have a budget of $1.5 million this year, with the vast majority of it coming from grants. The department s administration fund, the cost to run the department and its programs, is $341,635.
