2020 has been a challenging year for many, especially for those dealing with chronic hunger. Due to COVID-19, an estimated 130 million more people went hungry in comparison to 2019, making food consumption that much more important. In our second Families of Worth session, we discussed how sustainable food supply chains can be built using agriculture technology. Mark Tracy, CEO at Cloud Agronomics, Jaymin Patel, executive chairman at Cloud Agronomics, and Jim McCann, founder of 1-800 Flowers and
Worth‘s very own chairman, shared their insight on this prominent revolution.
Cloud Agronomics is a company that uses technology and data to take a deeper look into plants and their soil. “It almost acts as a CT scan for those objects that we’re looking at and giving us an understanding in near real-time about their health,” Tracy explained.
Christmas Tree Fires 11:22 pm
With the recent demand for live Christmas trees fire officials want to remind everyone of how dangerous the holiday staple can be if not properly cared for.
Jim McCann, Assistant Fire Chief with the Johnstown Fire Department, says they have a lot of incidents that involve Christmas trees this time of year and hope with more people getting live trees that wont increase.
McCann says it’s easy to make sure your Christmas tree doesn’t become a fire hazard and it all starts with where you put it in your home. When you start to trim your tree, McCann says keep it away from any open heating sources and don’t put your tree where it could block you from entering or exiting a room.

Johnstown House Fire 12:29 am
Fire crews responded to a house fire on the 1100 Block of Solomon Street in Johnstown Thursday morning. Assistant fire chief with the Johnstown Fire Department, Jim McCann, says the call for the fire came in around 3 a.m.
McCann says the homeowners and their two children were able to get out safely with their pets. The fire started on the second floor of the home and McCann says thankfully it didn’t spread, he says the family had closed the doors to the room which helped contain it.
The Richland Volunteer Fire Department also responded to help Johnstown firefighters put the fire out. McCann says while the room where the fire started is badly damaged that the rest of the home is in decent shape.
