80 Years Ago
The Yankees signed catcher Gus Niarhos, convincing the 20-year-old to forgo his education at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University). Why is Niarhos relevant? Well, after serving in the Navy during World War II, he earned a spot with the Yankees alongside another young backstop Yogi Berra. For a little while, it wasn’t clear which player would be the future catcher.
This week, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it is worth reflecting on his wholehearted advocacy for cash relief as a core way of delivering on his dream of economic and racial justice. Bruce Arians Has Become the Biggest Troll of the Playoffs

While most players and coaches avoid providing bulletin-board material for opponents during the playoffs, a select few have mastered the art through the years. Deion Sanders, Hollywood Henderson, and Joe Namath come to mind. Now, it appears, Bruce Arians wants to add his name to that prestigious list.
Over the past few days, Arians has been on a smack-talking tour de force, firing back at Washington star rookie Chase Young and, for some reason, trolling now-released Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins ahead the Bucs Wild Card playoff game against the unnamed team from our nation s capital.

Unless Henry Ruggs III has a monster game on Sunday at the Denver Broncs, his rookie season will go down as a disappointment.
Ruggs’ progression will be a major storyline of the 2021 training camp. After another week of little or no production, Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden was asked about Ruggs’ lack of impact and he challenged the first wide receiver taken in the 2020 draft for a second time this season. “Well Ruggs has been sick for 10 days, he just showed up Friday, No. 1. We didn’t even know if he was going to play,” Gruden said Monday.
