Texas Trucking Association seeks tort reform in state’s current legislative session

The Texas Trucking Association is pushing for the state legislature to make several changes in the state’s approach to vehicle lawsuits in its biennial legislative session.
It won’t take long to review the list of what they’re seeking; it’s fairly short. The initiative is also viewed as a first step in tort reform that may go on over several legislative sessions. With the every-other-year schedule of that legislature, what doesn’t get done this year would need to wait for two more years to either be attempted again or to be built on further if there are accomplishments this year.

As described by John Oliver himself, nobody would have been able to guess what the commercial was for if not for the credits to the company that rolled out at the end. But that doesn t matter because the commercial eventually made it work and caused a boom in sales, too. Here s a look at the commercial.
Perdue Receives Corporate Culture Award
Perdue Farms has garnered a 2016 Corporate Culture Award from Baltimore SmartCEO for fostering a “creative collaborative workplace culture that has helped enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.” The Salisbury, Md.-based poultry and pork processor was one of 50 companies that received the award at the annual Corporate Culture Awards event in Baltimore. A grain elevator in Lothian run by Perdue Farms will stop accepting grain Feb. 26 and close permanently March 31, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman said. The company announced the closure earlier this month, and Pittman said he is trying to set up a meeting to urge Perdue to keep the facility open.
