Trustees Praise EFSC President’s COVID Leadership, Extend Contract to 2026
February 9, 2021 - The Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees extended the contract Tuesday of college President Dr. Jim Richey after praising his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The five trustees took the unanimous action during Richey’s annual performance review for 2020, the latest since he became president in 2012.
Dr. Jim Richey attended drive-through commencement celebrations on all four EFSC campuses in December 2020, leading the effort to recognize graduates despite the limitations posed by the pandemic.
Trustees called his achievements and those of the college’s faculty and staff exceptional,

After receiving a $510,000 loan after the Flood of 1997, Boardwalk Enterprises failed to repay more than half of the debt to East Grand Forks. Nothing at all paid for more than a decade, and then agreeing to pay a mere $250,000 only after East Grand Forks spent $70,000 in legal fees over two more years. Records of the transaction didn t get filed appropriately by someone employed by the city. Also around that time, Boardwalk Enterprises grabbed $490,000 in tax-funded grants from other sources.

Schools going remote and high school graduates filling in for seasoned teachers some may say it’s not the ideal educational scenario, but it’s the one districts are facing.
With COVID-19 making many hesitant to step into a classroom, Connecticut cities and towns are dealing with a substitute shortage that’s resulted in schools going remote from lack of available coverage and the state lowering their requirements to help bring instructors into the classroom.
