Ed was born Nov. 14, 1962, in Iron Mountain, the son of Mary Ann (Givogre) Wahoviak and the late Robert A. Wahoviak. After graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1980, he served in the U.S. Army and then earned his diesel mechanic certificate at MATC. Ed was also known as “Farmer Grandpa” by his grandson, RJ Schoepke, because of his love for animals. RJ also called him the “cat whisperer’ because of all the feral cats Ed would trap, neuter, love and care for. Nightly he had a “cat buffet” on his front porch to make sure these cats were very well fed and taken care of, including providing shelter. He is further survived by his cat “Sweetie” who made her way not only into his heart but into his home and lap.
