Albert’s contract was set to expire after this season. He began the 2020-21 campaign broadcasting remotely after opting out of last season’s bubble setting in Orlando, Florida due to the higher risk of contracting COVID-19 for people 65 years or older.

May 13, 2021 Former NBA All-Star and longtime broadcaster Chris Webber has reportedly parted ways with TNT, according to Andrew Marchand of the Marchand describes the split as mutual, noting that Webber was not a part of TNT s Thursday night broadcast, which was the network s last game of the regular season. Reggie Miller filled in for Webber as play-by-play announcer Marv Albert s partner. Webber has called games for TNT since 2008, working on the No. 1 NBA broadcast team for the last several years.  In a 15-year NBA career, he was named to the All-NBA team five times and won the league s Rookie of the Year award in 1994. His most productive years came with the Kings, who made the playoffs six straight seasons while Webber was on the team.

New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand, there have been rumblings that Chris Webber could be on his way out as Turner’s top game analyst after this season. Webber isn’t very popular with viewers, which is often indicated by “Chris Webber” being a trending topic on Twitter on the nights he’s calling a game. Webber’s contract expires after this season, but Marchand reports that the former NBA star also ticked off Turner executives by opting out of calling NCAA Tournament broadcasts in the Indiana bubble very shortly before March Madness began. It’s not that Webber decided not to go to Indiana so much as when he informed Turner producers and executives that he wasn’t going to work the Tournament.
