South Carolina Ports Sets New Annual Record for Containers Handled

South Carolina’s Port of Charleston has just concluded its best year on record as the American economy emerged from the pandemic.
South Carolina Ports reported its fiscal year 2021 results on Tuesday, showing 2.55 million twenty-foot equivalent units handled across Charleston’s its three container terminals: Wando Welch Terminal, North Charleston Terminal and the new Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal. This makes for 9.6% increase in TEU volume compared to FY 2020. Its fiscal year ends June 30.
SC Ports moved 1.42 million pier containers, which measures containers of any size, in FY 2021. This is up 7.7% from FY 2020.
