FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) â A Mercury Marine plant in Fond du Lac is being recognized for their enhancements in safety in 2020.
Brunswick Corporation announced their safety leadership awards in a year they report achieved the lowest recordable incident rate in company history. Mercury Marine Plant 17 Castings was one of four facilities across the world to receive that honor.
âWith COVID, certainly there are a lot of new protocols and practices that were put into place in 2020,â said Director of Safety and Occupational Health, Jim Sutton. âIn the case of this particular facility,theyâve done a really remarkable job in reducing injuries to a level that was well below even the industry average. So itâs pretty exemplary that way.â

Heather Holt, the agency’s executive director, had potentially disturbing news a member of the City Council had “threatened to cut the Ethics Commission’s budget if they did not give more permissive advice” on certain gift rules, according to a March 2018 email written by a commission staffer who has identified herself as a whistleblower.
“Heather then asked if ‘anyone was willing to lose their job over this,’” wrote Alexandria Latragna, then the agency’s ethics program manager. The Times reviewed a copy of Latragna’s email, which was partially redacted.
