Health Department transitioning into the COVID-19 vaccination business

CROOKED LAKE — COVID-19 vaccinations of people 80 and older from Steuben County has begun in earnest at the Steuben County Event Center in the Steuben County Park. Vaccinations started for that age group on Monday. On Tuesday, the Steuben County Health Department was starting to work in concert with Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, which continues to be the lead agency running the clinic. “We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Cameron,” said Alicia Walsh, administrator of the Steuben County Health Department. The vaccination clinic was set up by Cameron in December as vaccines started being made available, first for health care workers. The first inoculations started on Dec. 18 and as many as 300-plus people have been vaccinated a day.
