BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut Connecticut State Sen. Dennis Bradley and Jessica Martinez, a former chair of the Bridgeport Board of Education, have been indicted on federal charges.
Bradley and Martinez turned themselves in to authorities on Tuesday. They are charged with six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Additionally, Martinez was charged with making false statements to investigators and before the grand jury. Bradley was released on a $300,000 bond and Martinez released on a $250.000 bond. Dennis Bradley Jr. and Jessica Martinez surrendered today to the U.S. Marshals Service in New Haven. An indictment is sealed pending their court appearances this afternoon. said the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney s Office in Connecticut, Tom Carson.

STAMFORD, CT Impact Fairfield County (Impact FFC), the area s premiere women s collective giving circle, held ceremonies to award two $100,000 Core Mission Grants to Hall Neighborhood House in Bridgeport and INTEMPO in Stamford, according to a news release.
The nonprofits were selected as the 2021 $100,000 Core Mission Grant winners by a vote of Impact FFC s 248-women membership at their Annual Meeting on May 5. The two nonprofits were selected from an initial pool of 71 applicants after a rigorous, multi-step process, including both a virtual site visit and a presentation at Impact FFC s Annual Meeting.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. Goodwin University announced on Monday the completion of its acquisition of the University of Bridgeport.
Mayor Joe Ganim says the partnership cements the future of higher education in Bridgeport. We look forward to the university playing an even more active role in supporting our community and the educational and career goals of our students as we reimagine the future of our city, Ganim said.
According to a release, the University of Bridgeport will function as an independent institution with its own leadership and Board of Trustees under the ownership and operation of Goodwin University, as approved by the U.S. Department of Education, Connecticut s Office of Higher Education and the New England Commission of Higher Education.
