Rosa Jimenez hugs Esme Gonzalez, 10, in front of the ICE field office in San Antonio after Jimenez was released Wednesday. Gonzalez became close to Jimenez while her mom, Vanessa Potkin, an Innocence Project attorney, worked to free Jimenez, who was in state prison for the last 16 years. A state district judge ordered Jimenez released on bond because she and the new Travis County district attorney believe Jimenez was wrongly convicted based on trial testimony provided by people who weren’t experts. Jimenez, who is free on bond, will live in Travis County while she waits for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to review her case.Jessica Phelps /San Antonio Express-NewsShow MoreShow Less
