Roadworks on the first lot of the project at Queensway is ongoing.
In a statement issued by Uganda National Roads Authority (Unra) on Tuesday, activities for the construction will start from Dewinton Road junction on Yusuf Lule Road.
Unra said the activities include drilling, design reviews, geotechnical studies and general preparation.
“…we expect minimal interruption in traffic flow during this exercise but traffic police will be on site for any needed traffic management. We appeal to all roadusers [pedestrians and vehicle operators] to exercise maximum caution and follow traffic guidelines around this area,” the statement read.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has significantly dealt with the challenge of flooding in the City.
A year ago, Kampala was experiencing floods at certain black spots that made navigation at those points impossible to go past for several hours after a downpour.
These locations included; Clock Tower on Entebbe Road that often covered the Fire Brigade headquarters parking; Mulwana Road in Bugoloobi Parish; at the Electoral Commission head office on Jinja Road; and the Bwaise communities in Kawempe Division. Sometime in September 1983, two brothers, Moses Nsubuga and Daudi Ssentongo, were kidnapped and were never seen again.
Nsubuga and Ssentongo were kidnapped from a restaurant around Nakasero, Kampala, by unidentified persons. The brothers were related to a Kampala businessman Francis Kyobe.
Kyobe owned a prime plot of land on Burton Street in Kampala’s central business district, which was later to cause the kidnap of his sons (not biological).
Retired Italian diplomat arrested in Bugolobi over ivory pieces

Diego Marino Enrico, a retired Italian diplomat is in trouble after being found in possession of over 5 kilograms of ivory.
A team of detectives from Bugolobi police station in Kampala picked up Marino on Tuesday following a search at his residence in Panda–Pier Village in Nakawa Division that yielded the ivory and transferred him to Jinja Road police station.
Marino’s arrest came a day after his Ugandan wife was detained at Bugolobi police station together with Panda–Pier village LC I chairperson, Joseph Tomusange, who was caught with 2.5Kgs of worked ivory pieces following a trap laid by officers from the Natural Resources Conservation Network (NRCN) working closely with detectives from police who presented themselves as buyers of the ivory.
