The Des Moines metro is grappling with an imbalanced market in which far more people are looking to purchase real estate than there are homes available to buy.  It s presenting a difficult situation for would-be buyers and sellers. There s never been a better time to sell, with homes going quickly and for top dollar. But it s also difficult to purchase a home, fueling bidding wars among buyers who must make offers quickly or lose out.  As a result, many sellers are sitting out, reluctant to put their homes on the market to avoid the frenetic competition. It s a terrible funnel, says Gina Swanson, a metro Des Moines real estate agent with CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate.
