The Monterey Jazz Festival is almost here tickets went on sale Thursday. The three-day festival starts September 24 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. The festival will include 21 hours of performances from 22 performers, including legends like Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Pat Metheny Side-Eye and others. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the arena will be limited to 50% capacity and total ticket sales capped at 2,500. Tickets for all three days of the festival start at $220.

Porchfest returns to Melrose following pandemic

The third annual Melrose Porchfest is coming back on Sept. 25, after taking a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Porchfest is the idea that members of the community open up their “porches,” or backyards and driveways, to host musical performers while others in the community walk around and listen to the various genres of music. With bands and performers spread out across a city, community members are able to connect and be in one’s company while enjoying live music. “Porchfest is a wonderful way to build community,” Gina Martinez, Melrose resident and Porchfest organizer, said. “Music is something that most everyone can relate to, and it’s a joyful thing to come together around.”
