By-polls: JP finalises candidates for 3 constituencies Atikur Rahman Atik, Mostakur Rahman Mostak and Jashim Uddin Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Jatiya Party (JP) has finalised its candidates for the by-elections to three parliamentary constituencies Sylhet-3, Dhaka-14 and Cumilla-5 scheduled to be held on July 14. The candidates are Atikur Rahman Atik (Sylhet-3), Mostakur Rahman Mostak (Dhaka-14) and Jashim Uddin (Cumilla-5).  The JP selection board finalised the candidates at a meeting held at the party s chairman GM Quader s office at the capital s Banani today. Earlier, the party strongly opposed the Election Commission s decision of holding the by-polls on July 14 as it coincided with the death anniversary of its founder and late president HM Ershad.

And at the same time, the disbursement of the Tk 23,000 crore fund meant for the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) should be completed as soon as possible so that the affected units can resume operations, he said. The proposed new fund of Tk 20,000 crore would be only for the CMEs and the banks and other disbursement channels should be made aware for quick disbursal of this fund so that they can enjoy the benefit during this time of crisis, Uddin also said.
