Two wins away from title, Bonnies return home to host George Washington

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies make no bones about it: they scoreboard-watch like the rest of us.
“We’ll be in the back of the bus or in the locker room checking, or at the houses watching games and checking scores, stuff like that,” Dominick Welch remarked. “Just keeping ourselves updated.”
The scenario is simple now, simpler than it was when St. Bonaventure split the Atlantic 10 regular season title in 2016. The Bonnies have the right to cut down a net at the Reilly Center and claim the outright No. 1 spot if they win two home games against 3-4 George Washington and 8-7 Dayton.

Jalen Adaway didn’t pump fake this time, deciding it was time to trust his jump shot with a pack of doubting Wildcats giving him ample real estate.
The look, just like the openings teammates Dominick Welch and Jaren Holmes had enjoyed over the course of Wednesday’s game, was perfect. The shot, something Adaway has shown in flashes this season, fell through the net without a struggle.
“He struggled with his shot; he was hesitant all game,” Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt remarked of his junior tri-captain. “He really struggled. But it just showed that he overcame that. And we always talk about dealing with adversity, and he dealt with it.”

COLUMBIA - Roads are covered with snow and slush, making conditions dangerous for drivers. The snow paired with the low temperatures can lead drivers to slip and spin on the roads.Â
Coach Megan Matthews is a Columbia driving instructor that has some tips for this week s weather. Though she teaches new drivers on the road, Matthews explained some common mistakes even experienced drivers make. Seasoned drivers will not take enough time when stopping when the weather gets like this, Matthew said. Stopping and braking distance will be different today because our tires are not connecting with the concrete. Â
MoDOT recommended drivers avoid traveling on Monday so the snow crews could get out on the roads.
