Giants pluck right-handed starter Dedniel Nuñez from Mets in Rule 5 draft [San Francisco Chronicle]
Dec. 11 Relievers who throw high heat have become the holy grail of pitching.
The Giants really want to drink from that cup.
On Nov. 20 they added three such right-handed prospects to their 40-man roster to protect them from Thursday’s Rule 5 draft, which they then used to add one more.
The Giants selected 24-year-old Dedniel Nuñez from the Mets in the major-league portion of the draft, the traditional end of the winter meetings. Nuñez will join just-protected relievers Camilo Doval, Gregory Santos and Kervin Castro on the 40-man roster.
