Michigan State is making another addition from the transfer portal and it’s a notable one.
Former Purdue wide receiver Maliq Carr announced his commitment to the Spartans via Instagram on Friday afternoon. That was after entering the portal last week.
When Carr entered the portal last week, Rivals.com and the Lafayette Journal & Courier both reported Carr wants to play both football and basketball at Michigan State, which is what he originally wanted to do at Purdue.

One week after Michigan State started spring practice, Mel Tucker was asked to identify an area of growth early in his second season leading the program.
“Our special teams work has been very good, the technique and fundamentals, working on punt, just the entire operation, the efficiency of the drills, the understanding of what we need to get done, how we need to do it,” Tucker said on March 30. “We’re improved in that area, we’re moving in the right direction.”

Michigan State football and their head coach Mel Tucker continue to add to their roster via the transfer portal, this time adding Purdue wide receiver and former four-star tight end recruit Maliq Carr to the roster via the transfer portal according to multiple reports from the Lafayette Journal & Courier and the Detroit Free Press.
Carr at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds along with his athleticism can line up as a wide receiver or tight end and was listed as the number four overall tight end in the 2020 recruiting class by 247Sports.com. Carr will also be much closer to home as he went to high school at Oak Park just north of Detroit.

Michigan State is nearly four months removed from the end of the 2020 season.
Offensive coordinator Jay Johnson has had plenty of time to review the performance and is looking to “improve everything.”
That would be a good place to start.
