Jury Trial To Begin For Man Involved In 2019 Edmond Murder

George Watson s trial is set for 9 a.m. Monday, he s charged with first-degree murder in the 2019 death of Sawyer English. Police say they found English gunned down in his Edmond home. Both Watson and his girlfriend Lindsi Mayabb were charged in connection to the murder. Mayabb has since taken a plea deal in exchange for testifying against her boyfriend. Police say Watson shot and killed English in a fit of jealousy after English allegedly contacted Mayabb through an Escort website.

Enterprising young Scots smell success after winning business investment

Budding entrepreneurs from three Scottish high schools are going for growth after showing the power of social media. CityFibre, the Gigabit City builder, is providing additional funds to a trio of businesses which form part of the Young Enterprise Scotland Company Programme. The top prize of £150 has gone to 10 Scent, which consists of nine students from Lochend Community High School, for the exceptional campaign it ran to promote its hand-poured and eco-friendly soy wax melts. CityFibre previously sponsored an entire programme and invested in social media training and a specialist workshop for the students involved. The enterprising team at 10 Scent has taken the lessons from the session and grown their social media following and driven awareness of their brand by sharing updates, customer feedback and sneak peeks. 

Historically Yours: Belated Medals of Honor given

Elizabeth Davis Special to Boonville Daily News On Jan. 13, 1997, President Bill Clinton had the honor of presenting seven Medals of Honor, six posthumously, to African American heroes of World War II. During World War II, 433 men were awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration for valor in combat. None of them were African American. In 1993, the US Army commissioned an investigation into racial discrimination in the awarding of medals. It was recommended that ten black World War II veterans be awarded the Medal of Honor. Seven of them were approved, including one for Private First Class Willy James Jr. who was born in Kansas City.

Aberdeen teens win investment in business plan

Aberdeen teens win investment in business plan © DC Thomson The pupils from Hazlehead Academy won investment in their business plan. Budding entrepreneurs from an Aberdeen secondary school have received a funding boost as a reward for their business ideas. A group of youngsters from Hazlehead Academy set up an enterprise selling handwash, sanitiser and soaps as part of a project run by Young Enterprise Scotland. The initiative is being supported by CityFibre, which is in the process of installing superfast broadband infrastructure across Aberdeen. The company invested in social media training and a specialised workshop for the young people taking part in the project.
