DENVER (AP) â San Diego shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was among three players the Padres added to the injured list due to health and safety protocols.
Joining Tatis on the list were utility players Jurickson Profar and Jorge Mateo, the Padres announced Tuesday before their game at Colorado.
Padres manager Jayce Tingler said he learned of Tatisâ positive test in a phone call late Monday nigh but that Tatis was symptom-free at the moment.
âNaturally, youâre punched in the stomach a little bit,â Tingler said. âYou first of all want to make sure, certainly for Tatis in this situation, is he feeling OK? And it was good to kind of see him over Facetime, and heâs feeling well. I mean he is crushed, heâs crushed inside, mentally, things like that.

The San Diego Padres placed shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. and right fielder Wil Myers on the injured list Tuesday after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Neither player had any coronavirus symptoms, according to Padres manager Jayce Tingler.
The move to sideline Tatis came before the Padres beat the Colorado Rockies 8-1 on Tuesday night in Denver. Myers started the game but was removed in the third inning after the results of his COVID-19 test were learned.
First baseman Eric Hosmer was pulled from the game in the seventh inning due to contact tracing, and he subsequently was placed on the COVID-19 injured list, too.

The San Diego Padres COVID-19 concerns continued Wednesday with both outfielder Wil Myers and first baseman Eric Hosmer placed on the injured list due to health and safety protocols.
The moves come one day after star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was placed on the IL before Tuesday s game at Colorado after testing positive for COVID-19, according to Padres manager Jayce Tingler. Myers left that game in the third inning and tested positive as well.
Both Tatis and Myers are asymptomatic, Tingler said Tuesday night.
Hosmer also left Tuesday s game early due to contact-tracing protocols. In addition to Tatis, center fielder Jorge Mateo and left fielder Jurickson Profar were placed on the IL Tuesday due to contact tracing.
