Head of George Centre for Correctional Services, Jan Tieties. GEORGE NEWS - George Correctional Services mourns the death of their Centre Head, Jan Tieties (58). Tieties passed away yesterday 1 January at the George Mediclinic after having tested positive for Covid-19. He was employed by the Department of Correctional Services for 38 years and have spent the last decade at the George Correctional facility. “It is very sad, indeed,” said Regional Commissioner Delekile Klaas earlier this morning. “Tieties was much loved.  He was a hard worker, committed and had excellent human relations. He was also a religious leader at the George Correctional Centre. He will be the first to comfort others for the loss of their loved ones. He was a father figure for many - always on the ground, giving support.”
