EXETER, Ontario â The mayor of the largely rural community of South Huron, Ontario, was looking forward to an employment boom when a marijuana producer used its soaring stock value to buy an enormous greenhouse on the edge of the municipalityâs largest town.

SOUTH HURON – The County of Huron has been denied funding for a proposed 20-unit affordable housing project in Exeter, but there’s still a chance funding could be provided this spring, the county’s director of social and property services Barbara Hall said.
As previously reported, the county was seeking a grant through the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI), which was launched by the federal government through the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Proposed was a two-storey affordable housing project consisting of 20 one-bedroom units to be constructed in a field behind an existing county community housing building at 134 Sanders St. E. in Exeter.
