ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Starting Wednesday, New York State will adopt the CDC’s new mask and social distancing guidance for vaccinated people.
Now entertainment venues are planning how they will handle the summer crowds.
“I’m cautiously optimistic that this can work that people can be honest and it s exciting to be able to take it off and not have it with you every second of every day,” Rochester Museum and Science Center President & CEO Hillary Olson said.
Olson said as of now they plan to keep staff wearing masks, but what about guests?

The George Eastman Museum says all riders must bring a helmet, mask and try to maintain six feet of space from others when stopped and ride 20 feet behind the next rider.
Rochester, New York, is a city that’s been heating up for well over a year now.
The modestly sized city located to the south of Lake Ontario has a rich history as the birthplace of well-known brands like Kodak, Xerox and Bausch + Lomb, as well as home to prominent figures of the 19th century like George Eastman, Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass.
But in addition to its history, the city has a thriving arts scene, is plentiful in parks and access to nature, and has a strong economy with major employers like the University of Rochester, Rochester Regional Health and Wegmans Food Markets employing tens of thousands of the area’s residents (among other prominent employers in the area like Harris Corp. and Paychex Inc., which also employ thousands of workers).
The best way to bring visitors back to upstate New York is through their stomachs.
That is the thinking behind a new initiative to bolster tourism, ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, in western and central New York, the Finger Lakes region and the Southern Tier.
The Upstate Eats Food Trail, a 225-mile “gastronomical road trip,” stretches from Buffalo to Rochester to Syracuse and Binghamton, exposing travelers to unique local cuisine and attractions.
The concept grew from talks that began 11 months ago among officials from four tourism organizations Visit Buffalo Niagara, Visit Rochester, Visit Syracuse and Visit Binghamton.
Even back then, “well before any vaccines were on the horizon,” it was clear that some sort of campaign would be needed to help address the devastating effects of the pandemic on the hospitality industry, Ed Healy, vice president of Visit Buffalo Niagara, said at a Wednesday morning press conference held via Zoom.
