Bluewater councillors agreed to support a letter from Kingston to the Ontario government calling for equal treatment for small businesses through the provinceâs COVID-19 lockdown measures.
The letter was included in the Jan. 18 regular council meeting agenda and requested to be pulled out for discussion by Coun. Bill Whetstone.

BLUEWATER – Sidewalks in Bluewater’s hamlets could see improvements soon if a grant application by the municipality is successful.
During a Dec. 17 special council meeting, councillors agreed to apply for a $100,000 grant through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream Grant, a joint federal-provincial funding program which provides funding for projects involving recreation, health and education renovations, COVID-19 response infrastructure, active transportation and disaster mitigation, adaptation and remediation.

Council meetings will no longer be available in a recorded state after councillors decided against providing captioned versions of council recordings.
During the Dec. 21 regular council meeting, Bluewater clerk Chandra Alexander presented a report to councillors which outlined the municipality’s obligations according to new provincial criteria being included in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) to provide captioning for recorded council meetings.
