Eight great shows to stream this week
THE HANDMAID’S TALE (NEON) As the fourth season unfurls, it’s hard not a feel a sense of deja vu about this adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s much loved 1985 dystopian tragedy. It feels like it needs an endpoint, especially since it has long since left the Canadian author’s ambiguous denouement behind. Without that, the continuing perils of Offred/Ofjoseph/June (Elisabeth Moss) risk turning into
Prison Break,
The Fugitive or
The Walking Dead, simply introducing new characters each season for her to butt up against, rather than progressing towards an ultimate tragedy or triumph.
Secret Bridesmaids’ Business was commissioned by Seven Network in Australia
Channel 4 in the UK, RTÉ in Ireland and TVNZ in New Zealand are among the international broadcasters to have picked up romantic thriller Secret Bridesmaids’ Business.
The 6×60’ series, originally commissioned by Australia’s Seven Network, sees a bride’s perfect wedding turn deadly after one of the bridesmaids unwittingly invites a malevolent stranger into their lives.
Produced by Seven Studios and based on the stage play by Elizabeth Coleman, the series stars Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Katie McGrath (Supergirl, Jurassic World), Georgina Haig (Snowpiercer, The Crossing) and Alexander England (Little Monsters, Alien Covenant).
