While every person on the selection panel who decided to drop Lynch and Morgan had left their roles by mid-March, the pair had to wait more than 130 days for their appeal result. The last to go was former coach Paul Gaudoin, who resigned hours before a scathing independent report found many problems with Hockey Australia and around the Hockeyroos environment.
Sources with knowledge of the appeal said the players were told they were successful on Thursday and that the appeal was won on the grounds that there was “no material on which the selection decision could reasonably be based”.
