India sets record in tiger conservation survey

12 Jan 2021 India has fulfilled its resolve to double the tiger numbers four years before the 2022 target set at St Petersburg in 2010. The latest Tiger Census, the largest ever done in the world that confirmed that the current tiger population in India has increased to 2967, has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as being the biggest tiger survey ever. The Indian tiger survey – released last year –revealed that India now accounts for about 70% of the world’s tiger population.
