Rhode Island hands St. Bonaventure their first loss in A-10 opener
BY TOM SEIPP, MANAGING EDITOR.
One of the main questions coming into today’s game was if St. Bonaventure’s lack of games so far this season due to COVID-19 postponements would hurt them at Rhode Island. Instead, it was their lack of depth that hurt the team as they fell 63-57 at the Ryan Center Wednesday.
Even when the Bonnies were within 4 points with 2:00 left in regulation, similar to their play up to this point in the game, more turnovers and missed shots put this game away for the Rams.

For the St. Bonaventure menâs basketball team, however, the bigger triumph, so far, has come elsewhere.
The Bonnies played a game, made the three-hour trek home and later watched the film to correct their mistakes. On Wednesday, they began to prepare for their next opponent, reigning Colonial Athletic Association champion Hofstra. Today, theyâll hold a walk-through session before again taking the court for real.
Bona, after two failed attempts at openers in an already-delayed season, after an 18-day pause and a staggered return from quarantine, has finally found a sense of normalcy in this coronavirus-impacted season.
It now, finally, has some momentum on its side. And thatâs what itâll bring into tomorrowâs contest against the Pride (2 oâclock, ESPN+-live stream, WPIG-FM, WHDL-AM) inside an empty Reilly Center.
