A visit to Debra Knapke’s Northwest Columbus garden is always filled with valuable lessons. Just ask her former Columbus State University horticulture students now in prime green jobs throughout the region.
Jared Hughes, owner of Groovy Plants Ranch in Marengo, recalls a class with Knapke when he naively took home a patch of her prickly pear cactus for his new succulent business. He ended up finding cacti hairs all over the interior of his new truck for days after that. Nixaâs Jaret Nelson and Isaac Mitchell and Ozarkâs Holden Sabor are among nine unanimous selections to the All-COC First-Team.
Nelson lived up to all his pre-season hype and then some while putting together one of the most productive seasons in Nixa history. The junior catcher topped the Eagles in practically every offensive category, 12 to be exact.Â
He compiled a .488 batting average with six home runs and 37 RBIs - all team-highs.
By scoring 31 runs, Nelson accounted for an incredible 68 runs in 26 games, or an average of 2.6 runs a game in Nixaâs 18-8 season. His 23 extra-base hits also included 14 doubles and three triples. Along the way, he stole 18 bases.
Where is it located?
The market fills both the North Building and South Building of the Atlanta Expo Center, which are located on opposite sides of I-20. You can drive between the buildings or take a shuttle. There’s also a food court: Regulars of the market love the Greek stand, and interior designer Jared Hughes also raves about the old fashioned doughnut stand where they fry them to order.
Parking at the Expo Center is free and admission is $5 per person per weekend. So after you buy your tickets, you can leave and come back throughout the weekend, which is great if you purchase something Thursday and need to get it home on Sunday. (Or just want to spend a few different days getting around to all the booths.)
