Thompson Park Aquatic facility opening pushed back to July 23
Recent severe weather in the Texas Panhandle has pushed back the opening date for the Thompson Park aquatic facility project in North Amarillo.
However, the most recent delays to the project have not been caused by severe weather, but by issues with the delivery of materials.
According to a presentation made to the Amarillo City Council last week, officials expect the facility to be open July 23 because of those “unforeseen material issues.”
According to previous reports, the facility was originally scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend, then pushed from Juneteenth to the weekend of June 25 and then to the upcoming Fourth of July weekend.
