Ravens 2021 Draft: Twitter reactions to the Ravens taking G Ben Cleveland and CB Brandon Stephens in the third round

After picking twice in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Ravens had to sit out the entirety of the second round after trading the No. 58 pick to the Chiefs as part of the Orlando Brown Jr. trade.
With the No. 104 pick, the Ravens selected cornerback Brandon Stephens from SMU. Baltimore continues to add to the cornerback position.

For the second day in a row, the Ravens stayed put and filled positions of need with players they loved. Late Friday night, near the end of the third round, Baltimore landed Georgia guard Ben Cleveland at No. 94 and SMU cornerback Brandon Stephens at No. 104.
Just as important as the prospect is the fit, and pundits believe there might not be a better landing spot for both players. Perfect landing spot for [Cleveland], Bleacher Report s Connor Rodgers said. For Baltimore, just stacking the deck on your offensive line now. … Left guard makes sense. He could start right away, let s make that clear. He really, really, beat up on people in the run game. That s what jumped out to me.

Eric DeCosta opening statement: I was told I need to smile more tonight and look happy and not look as tired. So, it was a long day, but I think we re very happy with the outcome. We feel that we got two players that really check a lot of boxes for us and definitely fill some important needs. [The] two players that we had targeted today … Ben Cleveland [is] a big, physical road-grading offensive lineman, power gap-scheme-type of guy that really fits us [and] really fits our identity. We ve had a lot of success with guys like him in the past. In [Brandon] Stephens, we got a guy that is a very versatile player. He s a former running back at UCLA, transferred to SMU. He s played some corner. He s played some safety. [He has] a lot of upside potential. [He s] a big guy. He runs very well. He s very physical. [He] should contribute right away on special teams and he s the kind of player that we look for. So, we ll open it up

Eric DeCosta opening statement: Well guys, thanks for joining us tonight. We re very, very excited to get Rashod Bateman and Odafe Oweh – I think he goes by Odafe and also Jayson. They say that hope is not a plan. I think we had a really good plan, but we also had a lot of hope. We had some players that we really wanted to go after, and this is a year that things kind of fell the way that we wanted them to fall. We were very fortunate to get two players that we think are excellent players at their positions and really fill, also, some significant needs on our team in positions that we wanted to address. We re excited. I think the coaches had a big part … I want to thank the coaches and also the scouts for all the work they did to help us decide to bring these two guys to Baltimore.
