Johnston Community College programs create pipeline for biopharmaceutical jobs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – After his son underwent open heart surgery, Edward McGill decided to make a career change to prioritize his son’s care. He also needed to ensure his family’s financial stability. These priorities led him to Johnston Community College’s (JCC) BioWork Certificate program. The 136-hour program provides students with the required foundational skills for a career as a process technician in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or chemical manufacturing. Courses focus on topics including the biotechnology industry, work safety, current good manufacturing processes (cGMP) and chemistry for process manufacturing, among others.

Hilltip introduces BrineMixx 135-800 brine solution blender BrineMixx is an external brine blender designed to achieve the ideal combination of water and salt. LAKESIDE PARK, Ky. – Hilltip introduces its BrineMixx™ 135-800 brine solution blenders to accommodate the growing demand for the use of brine in ice maintenance programs. Available in three different sizes (135, 370 or 800 gallons), the BrineMixx is an external brine blender design that helps achieve the ideal combination of water and salt for either anti-icing or direct de-icing applications. The BrineMixx works by filling the tank with fresh water and adding rock salt to preset amounts based on the amount of water present. Then the electric-powered, 103-gpm pump is activated, and the three-way valve opened to properly circulate the mixture.
